CHANGING A STANDARD RIM TIRE AND TUBE

Changing a tireIn this article we will be using a standard 12 1/2 inch wheel where the rim is a single piece as opposed to a split rim in which the two halves are held together by 3 or 4 screws and nuts.

Changing a tireSingle piece rims are more like automotive rims where the tire is pulled onto the rim by stretching over the rim's lip. Removal is done by using a tool to get the stretch and removal started. Various tools can work like those shown as long as the tool tip is blunt. A pair of pliers with the arch of the handle works great to get under the tire bead after the tube has been deflated and pull it up and over the edge of the rim. Once done a second tool can be inserted to hold the tire's bead over the rim's edge.

Changing a tireThe pliers is then moved to a second close point to continue the process.

Changing a tireWith the outside of the tire now over the rim the tube can be pulled from the rim. Now with the tube removed turn the wheel over and push the tire the rest of the way off the rim if you are replacing the tire and tube.

Changing a tire

Changing a tireInstalling a new tire and tube begins by placing the tire as much on the rim as possible with both beads of the tire inside the rim at the bottom as you stretch the tire partially onto the rim at the top.

Changing a tireTurn the wheel over and pull the tire bead onto the rim.

Changing a tirePlace the partially inflated innertube inside the tire on the rim and push the tire back onto the bottom of the rim so both beads are inside the rim. Be sure the tube is on the rim as much as possible out of the way of the remainder of the tire as it stretches onto the rim at the top.

Changing a tireUse your thumbs to press the remainder of the tire the rest of the way onto the rim. If you must use a tool such as a pair of pliers be careful not to pinch a hole in the innertube between the tool and the rim. This is easy to do. Once the tire is in place inflate the tube and check for leaks.

CHANGING A SPLIT RIM TIRE AND TUBE

Changing a split rim tire and/or tube is quite simple. Deflate the innertube. With the wheel removed you simply unscrew the allen head screws in the center of the wheel so the two halves separate. Remove the innertube from the tire and replace it with a new one that is partially inflated. Partial inflation keeps the tube from being pinched in between the two halves of the rim while you reassemble and tighten the halves back together. Reinflate the innertube and check for leaks.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOU ORDER

Thanks for shopping with us, we appreciate your business.

SUMMARY:

When electric scooters first became popular our Throttles, Controllers, Control Boxes, Battery Chargers, Batteries, Brake Levers, Switches, Key Switches, On Off and Kill Switches, Fuses and Fuseholders, Lighting and Signals, and Common Scooter Electrical Components were available for customers in need who otherwise could not get parts for their model scooters. Electrical Scooter throttles, battery chargers, control boxes were very hard to find, and still are for quality parts. The difference in our electrical parts from others' electrical scooter parts is that we reject the cheap parts sometimes available to us. Plus, we test the parts we sell prior to shipping them to our customers, adding a little bit to the price but insuring quality. Bottom line - fast receipt of quality scooter parts!
